Former Nigeria Female quarter milerz, Princess Mabel Madojiemu, has congratulated Team Nigeria for their impressive outings at the just concluded 13th African Games held in Ghana.
Team Nigeria placed second on the medal table with 47 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze, while Egypt emerged overall winner with 101 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze medals.
In her statement, Madojiemu expressed satisfaction with the performance of Team Nigeria and particularly commended the the athletes who won medals for the country in various sporting events.
“I wish to express my congratulatory message to Team Nigeria for their achievement recorded at the just concluded African Games in Ghana. Honestly speaking, Team Nigeria have done well, and they need to be commended, appreciated and rewarded for their good outings,” she said.
The Edo-born sports administrator said Team Nigeria performed well because of the preparation and commended Ministry of Sports and Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC for their necessary support to the success of Team Nigeria in Ghana.
“I always say that preparation is one of the keys to success. Our scintillating performance in Ghana showed that we had some preparation which really helped the athletes to do well in Ghana and secondly our professional athletes had started preparing for the game long by taking part in some athletic championship which really helped them too to excel in Ghana,” she said.
Nigeria contingents to Ghana arrived the country early Sunday morning and they were received by Sports minister and other government officials.
