Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to the Nigerian Sports Minister, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye was excited to see Team Nigeria emerged as winners of mixed 4×400 meters relay final African Games and assured them government support for their outings in Ghana.
Patience Okon George, Omolara Ogunmakin Grace, Sikiru Adeyemi, and Ojeli Ifeanyi Emmanuel orchestrated Team Nigeria’s victory in the mixed 4×400 metres relay final.
Omolara anchored the team, crossing the finish line after 3:13.26 minutes to win gold. Botswana claimed silver in 3:13.99, while Kenya earned the bronze medal in 3:18.03.
Adeboye while chatting with our correspondent after the relay final said the victory was well deserved and commended.He described the Team Nigeria a committed and dogged athletes who never gave up when it mattered most.
“Let me congratulate Team Nigeria and the athletes that won medals for us in track and field event and other sports.I came to Accra with honourable sports minister to give Team Nigeria from the government support and i am excited and happy that they do not disappoint us.I saw our athletes in spirit of patriotism which really helped them to win medals.Honestly our athletes have done well and i must commend them for their job well done, “he said.
The Lagos State football administrator however urged the Team Nigeria to continue with their scintillating performance and Nigeria fighting spirit saying that government is commited to reward the athletes who have made the country proud.
