Ex Nigerian international, Joseph Dosu says Super Eagles need total concentration if they want to overcome Palancras Negras of Angola on Friday in the quarter final of Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cote’D Ivoire.
Nigeria beat Indomitable Lion of Cameroon 2-0 in the round of 16 to set up a quarter final against Angola scheduled for Friday by 6pm(Nigeria Time).
The 1996 Olympic football good medalist commended Eagles for their performance against Cameroon and qualification of reaching the quarter final but noted that their match against Angola would be a total different ball game.
“Presently what Eagles need now is a total concentration. There should not be room for errors and they should avoid over confidence on the field of play.
“Most of the time we played Angola in the past always a tough battle so i expect difficult match on Friday.Like i said we can beat Angola if there is a total concentration and commitment from the players.I hope and believe that we should be able to overcome Angola if our players show total concentration,”he said.
Dosu who is the founder of Dosu Football Club of Lagos currently in NLO revealed that if Eagles can play the way they played against Cameroon, the three time Africa champions stand the chance to go far in the tournament or possibly win it.
Asked if Coach Paseiro should introduce the likes of Kelechi Ihenacho,Ahmed Musa, Uzoho or other new players as a starting line up, the former Super Eagles goalie said it is the duty of the coach to know which player is fit for the match or not.
“All these players you mentioned can be a starting line up depending on the pattern of play the coach adopts. But there is this adage that we don’t change the winning team.In 1994 Nations Cup, Emmanuel Amuneke was benched throughout until final when coach introduced him and scored the winning goals for Nigeria so it is left for the coach to decide who would start or not,”he said.
