In order to set the ball rolling in earnest, the Association of Football Club Owners (AFCO) has appointed acting executive members from various five football divisions in Lagos that would run the affairs of the association in the next few months pending the time elections would hold into various positions.
In a statement signed by one of the Apex leaders in the association, Prince Adeyemi Kehinde Sharafdeen, each member was appointed from five football divisions into executive members of the association.
The members are: Alhaji Yinus Shokoya (President) representing Ikorodu division and he is also a founder of Unizee FC.Mr Danny Mazal (Vice-president) representing the Ikeja division and owner of Dannaz Queens and Prince Ganiyu Adetunji (PRO) representing the Lagos division and owner of Phoenix Queens
Others are Mr Adigun Rilwan (Treasurer) representing the Epe division and owner of Soccer Academy as well as Mr Danladi Musa (General Secretary) representing the Badagry division and Director of Badagry United.
Sharafdeen in the statement stated that the association was set up to encourage unity and love among members of the football club owners and also organize training, seminars and workshops on the best methods and approaches to run a successful football club.
The statement further highlighted that to align and register with the local, state and national football associations or federations for statutory recognition and cooperation on football development.
Sharafdeen in the statement mentioned that the body was set up to organize enviable football leagues and championships to create markets for talent exhibitions for possible scouting benefits and collaborate with other non-members of sports clubs and organizations to do football business.
He however also revealed that the AFCO was established to encourage club owners to be fully involved in sports policy and the development of football from amateur to professional level in accordance with the statutes and laws of the federation of the sport of football.
He however thanked the leadership of the Lagos State Football Association LSFA for its support given to the body since it was established.
