Assistant coach of Dragon Football Club of Benin Republic, Ademola Adeshina and other five coaches over the weekend were honoured with meritorious awards.
Agege Football Coaches Council held its Coaches’ Week last week at the NYSC Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos.
Some of the programmes lined up for Coaches Week are football competitions among the Agege Football Coaches which were won by Creative FC and an award ceremony.
During the award ceremony, no fewer than six football coaches were given an award in recognition of exemplary commitment and dedication to the development of the Agege Football Coaches Council.
The award recipients are Coach Ademola Adeshina, Tella Sunday, Chibueze Dan Ozurumba, Olowu Olayinka, Charles Adamolekun and Amuludun Gbemisola.
After his wife received the award on his behalf, the former coach of Tradesafe FC, Adeshina expressed gratitude to God for the meritorious award bestowed on him along with the other five coaches.
Former player of Dragon FC disclosed that the award he received from Agege Football Coaches Council would spur him to work hard in the Benin Republic league and dedicated the award to Almighty God and President of Tradesafe FC, Jamiu Ahmed Yinka for his support given to him when he was in charge of the club last season.
He also dedicated the award to his boss and Chief Coach of Dragon FC of Benin Republic, Oladunni Oyekale who gave him ample opportunity to work with him in Dragon FC.
“I am happy for this award, and this is to tell you that what I have been doing for years as a coach is appreciated by the Agege Football Coaches Council which I belong to.
“I thank the council for honouring me with this award and I thank God for this achievement in the outgoing year,” said Adeshina who chatted with our correspondent on the phone immediately after his wife received the award.
Leader of the council, Olumide Ajayi thanked his members for their commitment to the council in the outgoing year saying that the council has achieved a lot more than in previous years.
He also appreciated the other stakeholders who have contributed immensely to the success of the council and wished them a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
