The much anticipated Alimosho Football Coaches Council Football Championship kicked off on Thursday as two teams recorded win in the week one of the championship league.
Samjason began their opening match with victory after defeating Zion Breed FA 3-1 in an encounter watched by appreciable crowd at the Navy Ultra Model Sports Complex, Navy Town, Ojo, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
Chidera Okpara quickly scored opening goal for Samjason to take a lead in the first half.
Both teams increased the tempo of the game in the second half as scoring chances were missed by both side.Okpara converted the second goal in the 58th minutes to send their coaching crew into celebration.
Samjason who were better side in the encounter dominated the proceeding. Sunday Kelvin’s goal in the 75th minute condemned their opponents to outright defeat.
Zion Breed on the other hand raised their game and their effort was rewarded in the 81th minutes when Akeem Olaitan converted a penalty kick as the game ended 3-1 in favour of Samjason.
Meanwhile in the second match, Seamoriow Academy who came to the championship as a first timer sent a warnings to other opponents as they walloped Attention FC 4-2 in another thrilling encounter.
Two goals from Gideon and Kehinde gave Seamoriow early lead before their opponents reduced the tally through Bolaji Mathew.
Nmandi Kelechi equaliser for Attention Boys in the 61th minutes attracted fans to show more interest in the cracker.
Seamoriow players began to intensify their efforts as they created some scoring chances but failed to convert it.
Christian and Opeyemi goals in the 68th and 70th minutes were Seamoriow needed to triumph over their opponents In a six goals thrillers.
While reacting to their victories, Samjason coach, Alfred Umoke said their victory was well deserved noted that both teams played good football but better side won the game.
“It was a good start for us and I expected our first match to be tough but thank goodness that we came out victorious.We are not there yet and we still need to work harder before our next game,”he said.
Seamoriow Coach, Lanre Olojo expressed delight with his team’ s progress.He admitted how his opponents toughed them but happy to secure the three points.
In other two matches played earlier,Realms Athletic played 1-1 with Kedge FC as SSFBC also played 2-2 with Sammy FC.
Commenting on the league championship, chairman organizing committee, Samuel Uchenna Eke commended all the teams for keeping to the rules and regulations.
He described the week one of the league superb organisation and charged the players, coaches and fans to shun vices that can bring the league into disrepute in subsequent matches.
