Adebutu Cup Finals: Starlet, Peak Lady Win Through Penalties To Emerge Champions

The 13th edition of Kesignton Adebutu football tournament ended on Friday in Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena formally known as Onikan Stadium as Starlet Football Club of Oshodi and Peak Lady Football Club of Ifako-Ijaiye emerged as champions in male and female category respectively.

The closing ceremony witnessed by the cup donor, Sir Kesignton Adebukunola Adebutu,CON and his, relations, friends and well wishers who came to rejoice with him to mark his 88th birthday.

In the colorful finals watched by hundred of football fans, Starlet FC defeated Primhous Football Club of Ikorodu 7-6 on penalty shootout after 2-2 at the regulation time.

In the female category, Wazbak Queens were not lucky as they suffered 4- 5 defeat against Peak Lady.Both of them played 1-1 at the regulation time before it went into penalty shootout.

The cup donor who witnessed the grandfinale was happy to have seen this year’s edition in good health and commended the organisers for the job well done.

Secretary of South West Youth Soccer Association, Ganiu Aliu thanked the cup donor for his contribution to the grassroots football development in the state saying that all the finalists played well but noted that the best team won the game.

During the presentation, the finalists received medals and cash prize from the sponsor. Outstanding players also received cash prize for their impressive performances throughout the tournament.
