Celebration has hit Ebonyi state health sector as Federal and the state government’s partnership has activated MAMII in Ebonyi state on 1st of September in the state capital Abakaliki.
MAMII is a strategic program of the federal government to reduce maternal mortality and death of children below five years old.

Speaking during the unveiling and declaration of this noble event on behalf of the governor of Ebonyi state, Dr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Commissioner for Health, Moses Ikenna Ekuma, described the program as a big intervention to crash maternal mortality and death of children in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“MAMII is a timely intervention to rescue pregnant and children from death and this is in consonant with philosophy of our governor and his wife that pregnant woman and children have no reason to die untimely and your coming to the state has proven that you recognized our governor to provide health delivery services to Ebonyi state indigenes,” said the Commissioner.

He welcomed the Federal government representatives who came from Abuja and promised them a happy stay in the state.
Also present at the event are the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Heads of the state government agencies in the state’s Ministry of Health including the state coordinator after SWAP/ MAMII in the state, international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF were also present at the event.
Officials from the SWAP office, the office that organized and coordinate MAMII were fully represented. Federal representatives present are the NEMSAS, Federal Ministry of Health, National Primary Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Meanwhile, the Governor and his wife are expected to activate this noble program on 5th September, 2025 in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
