My dear good people of Edo Central,
I bring you greetings on this auspicious Democracy Day celebrations, June 12, 2025.
It would be recalled that June 12 came about as a result of the commitment to democratic practice by the Social Democratic Party, SDP in the 1993 presidential election in which late Chief MKO Abiola featured as the party’s flagbearer.
He later died in the struggle, exhibiting the true SDP spirit, enshrined in national interest far and above personal interest.
Abiola also refused to betray the peoples’ votes and confidence despite all the inducements which is the hallmark of SDP, a rare characteristic in the political space till date.
With a combination of these unblemished traits as well as the profound leadership of Alhaji Shehu Gabam and other national leaders, SDP has become a fertile ground for true democratic practice where members connect with unrivalled democratic experiences in knowledge sharing and unlimited network for the development of the country, leading to mass defection into the party from other political parties across the country on daily basis.
In like manner, Edo State SDP chapter, under the leadership of Elder Felix Obayangbon and his exco who are democratic enthusiasts are championing the course of democratic values, aimed at enhancing a better Edo that works for every citizen.
As we celebrate this sacred Democracy Day therefore, I wish to remind our great Esan people of the enduring power of the HORSE {symbol of SDP} with capacity to ignite a new beginning in socio -economic, cultural and security fronts through effective legislative delivery in the Senate.
Assuredly, SDP’s victory, through your votes in this 2025 Senate bye election would be a powerful triumph of light over darkness in Esanland through the grace of Almighty God.
The clear poor delivery of other political parties on the Senate seat in the past 26 years with no tangible transformational legacy to show should worry the ordinary Esan man.
At this moment of our history, those unresolved challenges in health, agriculture, infrastructure, economy, insecurity, innovation, entrepreneurial drive etc which could be solved from the federal but have been blatantly ignored in the past 26 years must be addressed by employing a fresh manager from SDP through votes for the better future we all desire for Edo Central.
We must rise above division, stagnation, and despair—and move forward with courage, compassion and shared purpose through SDP’s manifesto in the Senate.
Let us use this bye election opportunity to energise the prospects of our Esanland through legislative plans, rooted in service, integrity, and genuine passion for the progress of our senatorial district.
My Senate delivery will reinvigorate our endowments for self actualization in commerce and industry for an all inclusive growth.
Given the unimpressive records of other political parties, we must moderate their tendencies to control the length and breadth of all available political positions in Esan land by supporting and voting SDP to win the senate seat for a fresh wonderful journey into our democratic eldorado.
As a journalist like late Anthony Enahoro whose voice reverberated in the federal parliament during his time, Esan people can be sure that I will not disappoint as Edo Central Senator.
I therefore, call on my dear Esan people, home and abroad to take full advantage of the moment and support SDP to win the Senate bye election which would ultimately set the stage for the desired economic re engineering process in our community.
In all circumstances, it is my resolve to pursue the best interests of our Esanland and promote the welfare and happiness of our people in every way possible through the grace of Almighty God.
With genuine love, happy Democracy Day, my good people of Esanland.
