Lagos football fans have expressed their total disappointment and anger over the poor form of Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in the ongoing 1X Cup taking place at Inspire Stadium, Oshodi, Cappa, Lagos.
Prince Kazeem Eletu FC lost 1-3 to Collins Edwin FC in the preliminary knockout stage of Island zone last Friday.
With this embarrassing defeat, Prince Kazeem Eletu have eliminated from the tournament and they now focus on Nationwide League One NLO U-19 scheduled to commence ending of this month.
Some of the fans who spoke to our correspondent expressed their displeasure over the shocking defeat.While some said the defeat reduced the respect fans have for the team,others described the unfortunate defeat a wake up call for the team.
One of the fans who chatted with our correspondent after the match said Eletu boys were not coordinated and they lacked striking force in the front.
He added that Eletu midfielders and defenders were not good enough to curtail their opponents on the field of play saying that the team might bounce back if the coaching crew work on the grey areas of the team.
Reacting to the abysmal performance of the team, General manager of Prince Kazeem Eletu,Muftau Eletu admitted the team’s poor form and apologised to their fans who were disappointed and angry over the team’s early exit.
“I watched the game myself and I was disappointed too but we did not bargain for this unfortunate defeat.I can only beg our fans to have confidence in the team and I am sure that the coaching crew would work on the grey areas identified in the team,”he said.
Also after the game,Muftau addressed the coaching crew and management staff concerning the team’s defeat and tasked everybody to work hard and bring results to the team.
He urged the coaching crew to improve on their coaching methodology and tactics noted that any player fails to meet the club expectations should be shown the exit door.
“Team need to be overhauled but it is a gradual process.We are not going to keep players who have not added value to the club henceforth and any player who is not ready to play, I think the player should leave the team,”he said.
In other matches played so far, Inspire FC beat Da Faria 1-0, Turf Season lost 0-3 to Oworo United,Dosu Boys whipped Ikosi United 5-1, FC Bethel defeated Dreamers FC 2-1,36 Lion defeated Middlewell 3-2 on penalties after one goal apiece at the regulation time.
In other results, G12 defeated Goal Getters 4-2 on penalties after one goal apiece at the regulation time, Brighton also defeated Utmost Boys 4-3 on penalties after one goal apiece at the regulation time,Ama Smile FC walloped Buquenson FC 4-0, Believe FA lost 0-3 to ADHOC FA as Arubinjaga suffered 0-4 to Kirra FA.
