The Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) proudly celebrates one of Nigeria’s foremost sports journalists and football historians, Mr. Kunle Solaja, on his historic achievement of covering every FIFA World Cup tournament from Italia ’90 in 1990 to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
This exceptional milestone is a testament to over three decades of unwavering dedication, professionalism, consistency, and excellence in sports journalism. Through his extensive coverage of the world’s biggest football tournament, Mr. Solaja has made an indelible contribution to sports reporting, preserving the rich history of the game while inspiring generations of journalists in Nigeria and across the globe.
According to the Lagos SWAN chairman, Ambassador Oladunni, Solaja’s remarkable career exemplifies the highest standards of journalism, commitment, and integrity, serving as a source of pride for the Nigerian media and the sports community.
