Hephzibah Sports Club have emerged the champions after they defeated Chekas United 1-0 in the play off Nationwide League One, NLO at Alade center in Lagos.
Two groups played at Alade center and a winner in each group played each other on Thursday to decide the overall winner of the center.
A goal from Temidayo Damilola in the 18th minutes was Hephzibah boys needed to emerge as winner in the kneely contested game watched by mammoth crowd.
Chekas United who came to the match with high expectations did everything to get equaliser but Hephzibah defenders were at their best throughout the pulsating tie.
The performance of the two teams were superlative as fans applauded the intensity of the the match.Chekas boys came to scoring at the last minute but they were unlucky to convert the scoring chance.
Hephzibah on the other hand were tactically discipline in defence and their goal keeper had some saves in the high tension soaked match before the referee signalled the final whistle.
Technical Director of Hephzibah, Olushola Ogundare who was in cloud nine after the game expressed gratitude to God for the hard fough victory.He described the match tough battle and commended both teams for the job well done.
“It was a classical game from the both side.Our opponents gave us a serious fight especially in the second half.Our players deserve commendations because they were tactically discipline in all departments and they were able to absorb pressure towards the end of the game,”he said.
Coach of Hephzibah, Taiwo Gbadamosi also showered praises on the team saying that they came,saw and conquered.
He said the journey to emerge the champions at Alade center was tough and thanked the management and staff as well as their fans for their unalloyed support given the club throughout the league campaign.
