The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has inaugurated the Board of Advisers and the Organising Committee for the 2026 Lagos Physical Planning Summit (LPPS), marking the formal commencement of preparations for the next edition of the Summit.

The inauguration was performed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, at the Conference Room of the Ministry in Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday. He charged members of the Board of Advisers and the Organising Committee to intensify their efforts to ensure that the 2026 Summit surpassed the achievements of the inaugural edition.

According to him, the reward for success is greater responsibility, assuring the Board of Advisers of the Ministry’s readiness to consider their professional guidance, meet expectations and provide the necessary institutional support for a successful Summit.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Advisers, Tpl. Olutoyin Ayinde, a former commissioner in the state, said that while the inaugural edition of the Summit was a significant success, the standards already set must be sustained and exceeded through strategic thinking and collaborative planning.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, urged members of the advisory board and the Organising Committee to work cooperatively, noting that teamwork and shared commitment would be essential to achieving the objectives of the Summit.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Tpl. Risikat Bello emphasised that the focus of the Summit must go beyond policy formulation to effective execution that would position physical planning as a tool for resilient, orderly, and sustainable development in Lagos State.

She charged the Committee to operate with clear focus, defined timelines, and measurable deliverables to ensure efficiency and accountability.

Earlier, the Secretary of the 2026 Lagos Physical Planning Summit, Tpl. Sulaimon Raheem presented an overview of the 2024 edition of the Summit, highlighting key outcomes and lessons that would inform the planning and execution of the 2026 edition.
