Agege Stadium in Lagos, popularly known as Soccer Temple, will soon be ready for sporting activities.
The Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission ordered the closure of the stadium four years ago for renovation but the contractor awarded the stadium failed to deliver as stipulated time.
At a period of time, the Agege Stadium was abandoned for some months by the contractor as the fans began to lose hope if the stadium would be renovated or not.
Our correspondent who recently visited the stadium showed that the soccer temple has a facelift and the laying of astro turf is almost completed.The stand and other parts of the stadium are equally undergoing a serious renovation.
The renovated stadium is expected to be fully ready on or before July.
Some of the fans who spoke to our correspondent commended Lagos State Government and Lagos State Sports Commission for their unrelenting efforts to ensure that Agege Stadium and other sporting facilities in the state are renovated and upgraded to the global standard.
While some of them expressed their displeasure over the way contractor handle the works noted that the Agege Stadium ought to have been ready before now.
