Head Coach of Ahudiyannem Queens Football Club of Abia, Ann Chiejine has given reasons why her team secured a goalless draw with Remo Stars Ladies in week one of the Nigerian Women Football League,NWFL which kicked off across various centres on Wednesday
The homers who lived up to expectations in their performance failed to find the back of the net as Remo Queens showed resilience and were tactically discipline at their defence in the encounter watched by mammoth crowd at the Aba Township Stadium.
Commenting on the outcome of the match,the former Super Falcons goalie expressed gratitude to the players for their football artistry display before their fans saying that she was satisfied with the team’s form but a little disappointed with the end result.
“It was a tough match for us.My girls gave them a good fight from the beginning to an end and I must commend them for their fighting spirit and doggedness showed against their opponents.
“However, looking at the outcome of the match as a coach I might not be happy because we deserved the three points at home unfortunately we were unlucky in the tense match.
“Many of us know that we are three months old club and we played a club that have been in the league for some years and I think my girls still need to be commended for their commitment throughout the encounter,”she said.
Chiejine disclosed that she would work on some grey areas in the team before their next match against Osun Babes and urged her players to remain focused and steadfast in their subsequent match.
Despite the home draw, Chiejine remains optimistic that his team would rise to the occasion in their next match and thanked the club chairman and management staff as well as supporters for their unwavering support showed to the club before and during league home match.
