Defending Champions,Sansan Boys on Sunday suffered 1-2 defeat to newcomers, Value Paints Football Club in the opening match of the Football First Cup.
It was a sad day for the supporters of Sansan Boys after their darling team failed to win their opening match against Value Paints FC at the Sansan football pitch,Igando,Alimosho,Lagos.
Blessed Jones drew the first blood through penalty in the early game.Jones who won most valuable player quickly scored the second goal to make the match difficult for their opponents.
Sansan boys who kept playing reduced the tally by fatai Ogunleye through superb free kick.
Both teams played better in the second half as Sansan Boys missed some scoring chances which cost them the victory.
The return leg would hold next week and a win or draw for Value Paints would qualify them to the next round of the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Value Paints coach,Adedeji Amos Obasa expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the result boasting that they would beat their opponents in the return leg.
“We have advantage going into the return leg and my boys have confidence to beat them again.We are not going for draw and we are goin for victory when we meet again in the second leg,”he said.
In the other results,Sunshine FC lost 1-4 to Mbah Logistiscs as Future Stars 99 feeders defeated Liam Height Academy 3-2.
Action resumes on Tuesday afternoon when Hearts of Lions face Wolves FC by 2pm, while Prime FC and King FC clash by 4pm.
On Wednesday, Future Guys battle Baku FC by 2pm as Casamigoos Sports Academy face Future Stars 99 by 4pm.
