NYG Asaba 2025: Team Lagos Make Steady Progress In Boxing

Boxers of Team Lagos have continued to make steady progress gradually moving up to the medal zone of the boxing event at the ongoing National Youth Games (AYG) 2025 taking place in Asaba, Delta.

On Day 3 of the event on Tuesday, there were some wins by the Lagos young pugilists in most of the quarter final bouts decided at the St. Patrick College in Asaba.

In the Female 38kg, Balogun Khadijat (Lagos) stopped Stella Prosper Noah (Akwa Ibom) in Round 1 (RSC) to reach the semi-finals.

Ramon Quam (Lagos) defeated Ismaila Muhammed (Abia) to book his place in the semi-finals in the male 40kg fight

Adebayo Idowu (Lagos) in the female 40kg won her bout against Naomi Henshew (Rivers) to advance to the next round.

Agboola Oyindamola (Lagos) beat the bout against Miriam Hammed (Oyo) in the female 42kg, while the bout between Abdullahi Lanre Adebayo (Edo) and Saka Rasheed (Lagos) ended inconclusive, awaiting technical review.

Meanwhile, the semi final bouts are scheduled for the same St. Patrick College on Wednesday with some fights involving Lagos State boxers in the schedules.

Owolabi Opeyemi (Kwara) will take on Balogun Khadijat (Lagos) in the female 38kg bout

Ramon Quam (Lagos) vs. Sheriff Ayomide Rufai(Oyo) in the male 40kg fight

Aliyat Hayafaja (Abuja) vs. Adebayo Idowu (Lagos) and Lawal Mujizat (Osun) vs. Agboola Oyindamola (Lagos) in the female 40kg and 42kg respectively.

The bouts start by 11a.m
