Seamoriow Football Academy began its campaign on Monday with 3-1 victory against 36 Lion Football in the opening match of U-15 Seamoriow football championship taking place at the Seamoriow Sports Complex, Abaranje Road, Alimosho, Lagos.
Seamoriow boys who were determined and dogged in the encounter opened the goal scoring through Isiah Oloruntoba before Sunday Victor scored the second goal to make the match difficult for 36 Lion.
Although 36 Lion players gave their best but their opponents were bette and prevented their opponents from dominating the encounter.
Having played for thirty minute, Seamoriow player, Victor scored his second goal to confirm their supremacy over their opponents in the high tension soaked match.
36 Lion who were outplayed by their opponents got a penalty kick and was quickly converted by Khunsa Sewanu in the 33 minutes to end the first half 3-1.
The two teams missed some scoring chances in the second half, while keepers of both teams lived up to expectations throughout the second half.
Reacting to the victory, Seamoriow coach, Peter Mathew described the victory well deserved and commended his players for playing to instructions.
“It was a good start for us.My players played well and gave a good account of themselves throughout the encounter.This victory was well deserved and we want to take the match one after the other,”he said.
In his own comment, 36 Lion Coach Femi Lawal described the defeat a wake up call saying that the early goal conceded affected the pysche of his players.
“We lost to a better side and we allowed them to score us early which really affected our game.It was a bad start quite alright but we are looking forward to win our remaining matches so that we can qualify from the group stage,” he said.
In the second game, Samjason boys failed to live up to expectations as they lost 1-3 to Yomaraz boys.
Samjason did not start well and they allowed their opponents to score early two goals which unsettled them in the encounter watched by mammoth crowd.
Samjason coach,Edem Oku still commended his boys for their performance saying that the absence of his key players that failed to start the game affected the outcome of the result.
Oku told our correspondent that he is not under pressure having lost their opening match saying that his team would be better in subsequent matches.
In another encounter,Super Accurate also walloped Froltish FA 3-1, while Adhoc FA also humbled Right To Smile FA 3-1.
The tournament coordinator, Oluwaseyi Amos expressed satisfaction with the superb organisation and number of goals scored by the teams.
He also commended the large number of spectators witnessed the opening match and other matches.
He however praised the local organising committee headed by Dotun Coker for the success of the day one of the competition.
“It was a huge success in the day one of the championship and I must commend the effort of the local organising committee for the good work they have done.I am looking forward to the exciting matches and beautiful goals in the subsequent matches,”he said.
Four matches have been lined up on Tuesday which starts from morning till afternoon.
