Sanwo-Olu Celebrates 9Mobile Transformation Brand Identity To T2

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has lauded 9mobile’s brand transformation identity to T2, describing the initiative as a powerful showcase of creativity, resilience, and technological excellence.

Speaking at the launch of the new brand, tagged: “Tech Meets Tenacity” at the Eko Hotels Convention Centre, Victoria Island, he said that the event aligned perfectly with Lagos State’s pursuit of excellence.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, stated that “The initiative resonated with the state’s vision of building a connected, competitive, and innovative city, powered by strong public-private partnerships. Lagos is a living testimony of what happens when vision meets hard work, and when technology meets tenacity,”

He told the gathering that his administration has deliberately positioned Lagos as Nigeria’s technology and innovation capital through targeted policies, strategic investments, and collaborations with forward-thinking partners.

He also highlighted the state’s strides in digital infrastructure, such as start-up funding through LASRIC, Smart City projects, Eko Excel in education, and digitised healthcare platforms.

He noted that technology was now firmly embedded in governance to improve lives and praised 9mobile’s unveiling of an innovation crafted for creators and built for Nigeria.

He stressed that technology alone is not enough without the tenacity to apply, refine, and improve to make Nigeria greater.

Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering innovation and making Lagos not just Africa’s commercial hub but a global city of the future.

The Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani in his goodwill message commended the new beginning of the T2 brand and urged management to commit to the

renewed service of excellence to people whose business depends on their network.

The CEO of 9mobile/T2, Mr. Obafemi Banigbe, noted that the 9mobile network is evolving into a cloud-native and API-ready operation with a focus on innovation and data-driven solutions for customers. He added that the company had already signed the national roaming agreement with MTN Nigeria to expand coverage and optimise service delivery.

In attendance were dignitaries from the technology sector and partners across Nigeria. The 9mobile choir added colour to the event with different songs.
