Head Coach of Ajuwa Football Club of Ajegunle, Idowu Akinbote, was on cloud nine following his team’s 2-1 victory over Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in a friendly match held on Friday at the Nathaniel Idowu pitch, Lagos.
Ossy Daniel and Saturday Godwin scored the two goals for the homers in the half half.
It was Ramon Ishola who came in the second half to score a consolatory goal for Eletu boys, which was not enough to draw the game in full time.
Akinbote confessed that the match was a tough one but thanked God that his team were able to overcome the highly tactical Eletu boys.
He described the game as very tactical and praised his boys for their commitment and doggedness exhibited throughout the encounter.
“Beating Prince Kazeem Eletu calls for celebration. Both teams have been rivals for years and the last time we played them, we were beaten by Eletu, and beating them today (Friday) showed that our team are on course and back for good” he said.
Commenting on Eletu boys, Akinbote could not hide the admiration he has for his opponents, saying that Eletu is one of the best clubs in Lagos and wished to play them in another playground.
“I always like to play Eletu boys because the team play good football and I learn a lot from them anytime I play against them. I must confess that Prince Kazeem Eletu FC is one of the best clubs not only in Lagos but in Nigeria at large. I wish them the best of luck in their ongoing round of 32 1XBet Cup in Lagos,” he said.
Responding, Eletu Coach, Israel Adegolu, said the friendly match was part of the team’s preparation for their next game in the 1XBet Cup and commended his boys for their performance despite the defeat.
