Bayelsa Queens FC say they have signed Janet Akekoromowei, the Nigeria Women Football League’s second highest goal scorer for the 2024/25 season, from Nasarawa Amazons FC.
Janet will wear the iconic No. 9 jersey, even as she is expected to bring her proven goal-scoring prowess and attacking quality to the Prosperity Girls as the club prepare for the CAF Women’s Champions League and the upcoming NWFL Premiership season.
Bayelsa Queens said in a statement on Thursday that “this signing reflects our commitment to strengthening the squad with the best talent as we continue to raise the standard of women’s football in Nigeria and Africa.
An elated Janet promised to give in her best for her new club.
“I’m excited to join Bayelsa Queens and can’t wait to give my best for this great club,” Janet said after putting pen to paper.
“Welcome to the Bayelsa Queens family, Janet Akekoromowei (No. 9)! Together, we aim higher,” the club said.
