As the 2024 National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, is underway in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has admonished the athletes to go for gold in all sporting events the state is involved.
Fatodu, while commending the athletes, who have won medals for the states in various sports in the last few days, also quickly reminded them to continue giving other states a run for their money in the ongoing sporting events.

The sports administrator in a chat with journalists in Abeokuta said Team Lagos is well known for excellence and greatness in the past festivals, saying that his athletes would fight hard to be among the top four states at the end of the biannual sporting events.

“Our athletes have what it takes to challenge the so-called favourite states in all games, and I have spoken to some coaches, officials and athletes about our mission in the festival, and they all agreed to work towards that.

“Like I said before, our mission is to develop and promote our athletes, and they should all contest for gold in all sports, which I am seeing the results in some games since the festival started,” he said.
Fatodu, who remains optimistic about Team Lagos outings, also cautioned the athletes not to be complacent; rather, they should give their best in all sports.

He, however, thanked the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his moral and financial support given to the athletes to enable them to succeed in the various ongoing sporting events.
