NCC Joins Global Audience To Celebrate Girls In ICT Day 2025

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has joined the rest of the world to celebrate the Girls in ICT Day 2025.

Independent News Express reports that the International Girls in ICT Day 2025 was celebrated on 24 April under the theme “Girls in ICT for inclusive digital transformation”.

The NCC says “it celebrates all girls in ICT, in Nigeria, and beyond on this year’s event.

“NCC is committed to empowering Nigerian girls to explore and excel in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

“At NCC we foster inclusive digital opportunities. We bridge the gender divide, and we inspire the next generation of female tech leaders.”

This year’s theme of the Girls in ICT Day draws attention to the critical need for more girls and women in the ICT sector.

With technology playing a role in all kinds of careers, from art and history to law, primary teaching and graphic design, learning tech skills at a young age will set girls up for economic independence. And, the ICT sector needs more girls and women.

At the global level, the celebration was co-hosted by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Arab States regions as a hybrid event, which featured a live link between Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and Nouakchott, Mauritania, along with distinguished panellists from around the world, live-streamed for a global audience.

In Bishkek, the event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and innovative technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic while, in Nouakchott, the celebration was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transition, Innovation, and Modernization of Administration of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
