The Youth Party has announced that it will conduct its primary elections for the upcoming Lagos State Local Government elections on May 18, 2025.
The statement added that the primary is in line with the Electoral Act (2010, as amended) and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) guidelines.
According to a statement by the Party’s Acting National Secretary, Helen Adoh, appeals arising from the primaries will be heard on May 19, 2025.
The Party reaffirmed that its primaries are being organised in preparation for the Lagos LG elections scheduled for July 12, 2025, and will be conducted in full compliance with electoral laws and LASIEC directives.
The party further stated that Sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will hold on April 21 – May 15, 2025
Additionally, Screening of aspirants will take place on May 16, 2025, while screening on appeals will hold on May 17, 2025
The statement further disclosed that
Female aspirants and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50 percent discount on nomination fees.
Similarly, Youths aged 25–40 will also enjoy a 50 percent fee reduction.
The Party emphasized that the primaries will be conducted using the One Member, One Vote (OMOV) system—there will be no use of delegates or super delegates. Voting will be done electronically via online platforms and SMS, ensuring convenience, security, and secrecy in line with legal requirements.
All aspirants will be given equal access to the members’/voters’ list for each constituency. The guidelines for the primaries are publicly accessible on the Party’s website to ensure full transparency.

The Party reaffirmed its commitment to transparent political leadership and free, fair primaries, while strongly opposing money politics, bribery, violence, repression, and corruption.
