The 2024/2025 Lagos State President Federation Cup popularly known as Lagos FA Cup has come and gone, but not without backslashes, particularly, for the newly crowned champions, Inter Lagos, who were at the receiving end.
During the intensive final match of the competition played between former champions Ikorodu City and and Inter Lagos, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, an ugly incident occurred as some supporters of Inter Lagos stormed the VIP area of the stadium to display unruly behaviours in the presence of the invited guests that included captains of industry, well-placed individuals, stakeholders of the game and top government functionaries.
Consequent upon this ugly incident that obviously brought the beautiful game of football to disrepute, the Disciplinary Committee of the Lagos State Football Association, met at the Surulere Secretariat of the LSFA, Monday 3rd, March 2025, to adjudicate on the matter.
The sitting which was chaired by the Vice-Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Mr. Adedotun Coker and with the full attendance of other members of the committee, deliberated extensively and objectively on the matter of indiscipline and acts which is inimical to the development and growth of the game in the state.
After listening to the remorseful plea for leniency and with a promise to put its house in order, by the management of Inter Lagos FC led by President and Founder, Lanre Vigor and the club’s General Manager, Gabriel Adigwe, the committee decided to place a fine of N1million on the club as sanction, as well as, demanding that the club publish an unreserved public apology to the Lagos State football community in the media.
