Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3 student of Diocesan High School, Gombe, Lamech Danladi has expressed his readiness to represent Team Gombe in the forthcoming National Sports Festival zonal elimination scheduled to come later in the year.
Danladi won a gold medal in the U-20 1500m finals in the ongoing Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics championship taking place at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe State.
Speaking after his victory, Danladi expressed gratitude to God for the hard-fought victory and described the historic win as well deserved.
“My victory was well deserved and I have been preparing for this race in the last three months and winning the gold medal in the 1500m is preparing me for a bigger challenge in the future.
Danladi who won a silver medal in the 1500m MTN Athletics championship in Jos last year said his target is to represent Team Gombe in the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
” It is my dream to represent Gombe in the national sports festival.I have represented the state in the last two editions of the National Youth Games, in which I won a bronze medal.
“I believe that I can compete on the national stage and my target now is to represent Team Gombe in the forthcoming National Sports Festival,” he said.
Asked about the challenges facing him as an upcoming athlete, Danladi said he wants the government to support the athletes in the state and provide them with the necessary support to prepare them for future national sports events.
