Main sponsor of the Gombe Inter-secondary School Athletics Championship, Alh. Shuaibu Gara Gombe has given reason for his sponsorship of sports at all level.
Gombe, who disclosed this during a World Press Conference on Monday, to herald the 5-day Championships which starts on Tuesday at the Patami Stadium, said his passion for sports is main motive for embarking on sports sponsorship.
“My desire to embark on sports sponsorship is borne out of interest of sports and not personal gains” Gombe started
“I began helping those in sports when I was young. I played football, although not at Professional level, but my passion to assist young and talented athletes to excel is totally is the motive and for national interest”.
The press conference which witnessed massive turnout was also attended by athletes and football stakeholders who also witnessed the draws for the principal cup matches which is expected to take place alongside the athletics Championship which kicks starts on Tuesday.
As part of the event that took place during the Press Conference, trophies and medals were also unveiled as it was further revealed that the opening ceremony which comes up tomorrow will showcase lots of activities ranging from entertainment to traditional cultural display.
Recall that Gara Gombe also embarked on an athlete village camp which was completed last year.
The magnanimity of Gombe has been lauded by stakeholders in the state and beyond for his significant support towards the growth and development of sports at all levels.
