Dosu Joseph Football Club have won trophies in the outgoing year following their 2-1 victory recorded against Arepo Bombers Football Club in Aremu Cup Final which held on Tuesday morning at the Rehabilitation Sport Center, Ojodu Berger, Lagos.
A Lagos based NLO team, Dosu Joseph got the winning goal towards the end of the encounter when Ojukwu Ifekwu found the back of the net to send their fans into wild jubilation.
Although the high tension soaked match ended one goal apiece in the half time before Dosu boys got the winning goal at the last minutes of the game in an encounter watched by hundred of football fans.
Reacting to this victory, Dosu Joseph FC Coach, Kayode Agboola admitted that it was a tough match but thanked God that they were able to triumph.
“Our opponents gave us a good fight from the beginning of the game.My players equally lived up to expectations because we came to this tournament as a defending champions and I am happy that we retained our title.Having won this title, we have won four trophies in year 2024 which is good achievement for the club.
“Let me use this medium to dedicate this trophy to management of the club which led by ex international, Dosu Joseph and NIS IT coach, Bolaji Sholanke for their contribution to the success of this club and I cannot forget the players who have done the job and our fans for their unwavering support given to us throughout the tournament,”he said.
Meanwhile Cup donor, Afeez Aremu who is currently playing in Kaiserslautern FC Division two league in Germany expressed satisfaction with the performance of both finalists saying that the best team emerged as champions.
“I congratulate the winning team for retaining the title won last year.Arepo Bombers are equally a good side unfortunately they conceded the last minute goal which gave their opponents to win the title back to back.
“I sponsored this tournament not because of anything but as part of my contribution to the football development in the community.Aside this, I started my football career with Dosu Joseph FC so I need to give back to the club inorder to encourage the young ones who are giving their best to the club,”he said.
