Dosu Soccer Kids Academy of Ikeja have emerged as champions after defeating Clear-Path Football Academy 5-4 on penalty shootout in the final of U-15 Ikeja DFA Playoff State League.
The tourney was organised by Ikeja Divisional Football Association IDFA to pick a club that would represent the division in the forthcoming U-15 State League.
The pulsating final which held recently at the Opebi Primary School saw both teams gave a good account of themselves as the encounter ended goalless draw at the regulation time.
Dosu Soccer Kids Academy did not lose a match throughout the playoff before it became a Champions.
An Academy that established a year ago by David Dosu suprisngly became a champions and they would represent Ikeja Divisional Football Association in the forthcoming U-15 State League.
Dosu who is also a Technical Director of the Academy and immediate past Leader of Ikeja Football Coaches Council in a chat with our correspondent said he was surprised that his kids could go far to win the playoff.
He explained that his intention was to allow the academy to play in the playoff as a way of exposing the players to new environment.
“Honestly i was not coming to the tournament to win the title but just to participate and give my coaching crew and players the right exposure.Winning this playoff and represent the division at the state level surprised me and I am very happy with this achievement.
“I am using this medium to congratulate my backroom staff and players for this historic feat.We would soon begin preparation for the U-15 State League comes early next year,”he said.
