Samjason Football Club have emerged as champions after defeating Seamoriow Football Academy 2-0 in the week six of the Alimosho Football Coaches Council League Championship.
Before the match, Samjason were leading the table with 13 points and a win against Seamoriow confirmed them a title holders on Friday afternoon at the French Village sports center, Badagry,Lagos.
Speaking after the match, Samjason Coach, Samuel Nwanoram expressed delight that his team crowned as champions and thanked the players and backroom staff for their commitment and dedication to the league since it started.
“It was a good outing for our boys and day of celebration for winning the league despite the fact that we still have our last match to play.I need to commend my boys and other backroom staff because this victory was collective effort.
“I dedicate the title to the players themselves who fought hard from the beginning to the end and I also thank the club chairman, Samuel Uchenna Eke for giving me the opportunity to serve in the club as one of the coaches.I also thanks our fans in Egan and other part of Lagos for thier supports and prayers to achieve this feat in the outgoing year,”he said.
Asked what gave them the victory against their opponents,Nwanoram said his tactical changes he made in the second half turned things around and earned the team a deserved victory.
In his swift reaction, Seamoriow Coach, Lanre Olojo commended his boys for their impressive performance despite the defeat and congratulated both teams for the job well done.
“It was a good match for us too and my boys played to instructions unfortunately we lost to our opponents at the last minute due to the fact that we did not take our chances in the first half.
“I am happy that we created more scoring chances than our opponents and like I said we were wasteful in front of goal especially in the first half,”he said.
Two goals from Latey Mighty and Tofunmi Osikoya in the 75th and 81th minutes was Samjason needed to overcome their opponents who were thorn in their flesh from the blast of whistle till the end.
In other matches, Attention FC shocked Sammy FC 3-1, Kedge Sports defeated Zion Breed 1-0 as Realms Athletic played goaless draw with SSFBC boys.
The league championship is organised by Alimosho Football Coaches Council and supported by Ikeja Divisional Football Association IDFA and Badagry Divisional Football Association IDFA.
