B United Football Academy proved bookmakers wrong following their 2-0 victory over Miracle Football Academy in the final of Seamoriow U-15 League Championship which was held on Sunday at the Seamoriow Sports Complex, Ikotun Abaranje Road, Alimosho, Lagos.
B United started the match with an impressive performance as they dominated the encounter and created some scoring chances but failed to cover it.
Miracle boys on the other hands were not a pushover too. They also showed their stuff made of by creating some scary moments in the encounter but poor finishing denied them from scoring.
The pulsating final which was watched by a mammoth crowd saw Muyideen Oyediran opened the goal-scoring for B United before halftime ended.
Miracle Boys who were looking for equaliser in the second half missed some scoring chances as they put pressure on their opponents for the remaining ten minutes of the game.
A goal from Oyediran in the last minute of the game was B United needed to send his fans and colleagues into wild jubilation. B United last minute goal condemned their opponents to defeat.
Reacting to the victory, B United Coach, Olawale Azeez Badru expressed his gratitude to God for the hard-fought victory saying that the journey to the final was tough for his boys.
“What can I say than to thank God for this victory and I commend my boys for their resilience and doggedness showed throughout the championship. When the championship started, we were not favourites but today we proved our bookmakers wrong and we are champions of Seamoriow U-15 League Championship,” he said.
In his own comment, Miracle Coach, Ismail Bakare expressed his disappointment over the outcome of the result. He blamed his players for not playing to his instructions which contributed to their defeat.
“It was not a good match for me because my players did not follow my instructions. My boys fought to win the game quite alright unfortunately they lacked what it takes to win the game.I congratulate our opponents and I hope for better outing in the next edition,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the third-place match played earlier, Lofty Skills FA humbled Bright Stars Future 10-1 to win a third-place position.
The grand finale was attended by Chairman Seamoriow Sports Limited, who doubles as title sponsor, Pastor Oluwaseyi Amos, Chairman Lagos State Football Association LSFA, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar among other notable guests.
At the award presentation, B United received a giant trophy with cash of N800,000, Miracle pocketed N500,000, while Lofty Skills FA went home with the sum of N200,000 for their third position.
