*Okoro says women will participate in subsequent edition
Customs men basketball team talisman and former Nigeria international Abdulrahman Mohammed says other teams should expect better performance from the Nigeria Customs Service in the next edition of the Armed Forces, Police and Paramilitary Basketball Championship.
The 2003 Afrobasket silver medalist who featured for the Border Men in all five games played rue his side loss to the Nigeria Police at the group stage and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp in semi finals to fatigue.
The Customs featured mostly retired players who are fully engaged in Customs duties across the country.
The combo guard who double as the Head Coach of the Nigeria Customs women basketball team thanked the Comptroller General of the service Adewale Adeniyi for his interest in building a formidable sports section for the Customs.
“Our CG is a very busy person but on behalf of my teammates, I want to thank him for taking special interest in leaving an enduring legacy as a sport loving administrator, which demonstrated by coming to watch our opening game against the Department of State Service (DSS).
Victor Okoro representative of the Armed Forces, Police and Paramilitary on the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) praised the seven teams that participated in the second edition of the competition.
Okoro gave assurance that the championship will feature women teams in subsequent edition.
The second edition feature the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Police, NSCDC, DSS, Federal Fire Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
