Agege United began their campaign on a winning note after defeating Youthful Talents 99 Football Academy 2-0 in the opening match of Agege Football Coaches Cup.
The much anticipated match which held on Friday at the Oniwaya High School, Agege, Lagos was organised by Agege Football Coaches Council.
Tobarami Hassan drew the first blood for Agege United in the 8th minutes to take an early lead.Their opponents efforts could not yield any positive result as half time ended in 1-0 in favour of Agege United.
Both teams raised their game in the second half.Youthful Talent 99 were created some scary moment but Agege United defenders denied them from scoring.
Akeem Wahab second goal in the 80th minutes was Agege United needed to confirm their supremacy over their opponents.
Reacting to the victory, Agege United coach, Ibrahim Ismail commended his players for impressive performance boasted that his team could go all the way to win the tournament.
Commenting on the competition, chairman organising committee, Olumide Adedapo expressed gratitude to God for the success of the opening match and congratulated Agege United for the hard fought victory.
“It was a good start for the organising commiittee and i thank God for the success of the opening match.We have a full house in the opening match and this is to tell you that the competition is well known in Agege and other part of Lagos.
Action resumes on Monday when Power Rangers face Fackson FC as De-Royal tackle Legacy in the second match of the day.
On Wednesday, Ultimate Stars battle Shuffle Select as Midas confront Young Boys.On Friday, FC Dynamite take on Little United, while Victory Future Stars face Future Hero FC.
Meanwhile the tourney would be played across five centres as 16 teams are taking part in the competition that would last for a month.
