Organisers of the 8th edition of U-17 Taiwo Afolabi Cup have commenced early preparation for the annual tournament.
The tournament is being sponsored by Chairman of Sifax Group,Dr Barrister Taiwo Afolabi who uses the tournament as part of his programmes lined up for his birthday.
Tournament cordinator, Taofeek Ajibola confirmed to our correspondent that preparations had commenced in earnest saying that teams from Southwest have completed their registration forms.
“32 teams across the Southwest would kick start the competition on 10, February at the Dipo Dina International stadium, Ijebu-Ode and only 16 teams would qualify to join 32 teams based in Lagos for the competition proper.
“The sponsor wants the competition to involve some football academies in the Southwest so we want to start their own before we bring the qualified teams to Lagos to join the 32 teams in Lagos for round of 48 format,”he said.
Ajibola disclosed that they are ready to stage hitch free tournament amd assured teams yhat qualify from the Southwest would be accommodated during the tournament in Lagos.
Meanwhile two matches have lined up at the opening match. Sirdona FC of shagamu would play Bada FC of ijebu- Ode,Agboola Babes of Ibadan would take on Gbagura Junior of Abeokuta.
