The much anticipated male category of 5th edition soccer championship tagged’ Imani Cup’ would kick off on 20th, January, 2024 at the Adenuga football pitch, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
The competition is put together by Generational Global Sports INC in partnership with CAN and Imani Bridges Sports Ministry.
Tournament facilitator, Bishop Lawson Sampson Shedrack confirmed that more than 40 teams have confirmed their registrations but noted that only few clubs have completed their registration fees.
“Our football competition is well known in Badagry and Lagos generally. i am impressed with the number of teams registered for the tournament unfortunately only few clubs have completed their registration fees and submitted their forms,”he said.
Shedrack noted that the female category would be organised along with male category.
According to him, the female category would commence on 17th February, 2024 at the Adenuga football pitch, Badagry.
The tournament facilitator who doubles as a football coach also explained that there is need for female football saying that there are many grassroots female football clubs that need competitions to showcase their players.
Shedrack however revealed that before the commencement of the competition, the organisers would organise a seminar for football coaches, refrees and administrators to keep them abreast of laws of the game.
According to him, the seminar/ workshop would hold on 7 through 10 on February, 2024 at the Ajeromi Ifelodun Council secretariat, Apapa, Lagos.
