Team Lagos have continued to make steady progress in their bid to have a record outing at the ongoing second National Para Games holding in Abuja.
Reports from camp of Lagos team showed that Sunday was a good day for the state as results made available to Independent News Express revealed that a good number of medals were won while results from some of the sports showed good progression of the team to medal zone.
In Para Canoeing, Omoboni Bose won a gold medal in the KL3 200 women event. Team Lagos ran riot in the Sitting Volleyball beating all states to haul 12 points overall to emerge winners in the event, clinching the available gold medal. Team Lagos not only defeated all opponents, they won all sets and matches.
In Para Swimming women event, Okah Chidinma Blessing was a proud winner of a gold medal in the S5 50m Backstroke women event, while another swimmer won a bronze medal.
A bronze medal was won in Para Swimming by Ijigbamigbe Gbemisola in 50m breaststroke S8 event. Para Badminton saw the duo of Ojo Kole Godwin and Tijani Abudlrazaq winning men’s doubles bronze medal in the SL3/SU5 event, Abudlrazaq also won a bronze medal in the SU5 Para Badminton men’s singles event.
In the ongoing matches, Amputee football team in Group B beat Team Niger 1-0 in Sunday’s match. In the Wheelchair tennis, Bankole Rasaq defeated Team Oyo’s Promise Simon in straight set of 4-2, 7-6, 2-0 to qualify for Monday’s men’s singles semi final, while Tosuin Dawodu of Lagos State beat Team Kano’s Christiana Olowolagba in another straight set of 4-1, 4-0, 2-0
