Defending champions, Orile /Coker Archdeaconry football team would defend their title as they face Ikate Archdeaconry football team in the final of Diocese of Lagos Mainland football tourney.
The final of the much-anticipated Diocese of Lagos Mainland football tournament would hold on 11, November, Saturday by 11am at the FIFA legacy pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
In U-17 category, Mushin Archdeaconry football team would tackle Ikate Archdeaconry football team in the final being hosted by Rt Rev B.C Akinpelu Johnson, Diocesan Bishop, Diocese of Lagos Mainland.
Director of Youths, Rev’d. Canon Mathew said the local organising committee headed by Adeoti Olusanjo is ready to organise a memorable final and urged the finalists in both categories to intensify their preparations.
“Let me first and foremost appreciate our father in the Lord, Rt Rev’d B.C Akinpelu, Diocesan Bishop, Diocese of Lagos Mainland for his unalloyed support given us to organise a successful football competition among our Archdeaconry. We are set for the final and wish all the finalists best of luck in their outings,” he said.
In his own comment,Olusanjo explained that the competition has discovered some talents in various Archdeaconry saying that this year’s edition lived up to expectations in terms of organisation, officiating and standard of play by the participants.
He also expressed his appreciation to Mr Tilewa Adebajo, Chairman Stationery Stores FC for his partnering with them in this year’s edition.
