A student of Government College, Maroko, Mahmud Adeshola took the world by the storm after scoring a spectacular goal in the final of Pre-season football tournament which held last Friday at the Wahab Folawiyo High School in Lagos.
Government College, Maroko defeated Wahab Folawiyo High School 4-3 on penalties after barren draw at the regulation time to emerge as champions in the senior boys category.
Adeshola who was at his best throughout the tournament moved the ball from the center circle and fired a long range shot that sealed early victory for his school .
Adeshola scored opening goal for his school before the opponents equalised in the second half which led to the penalty shootout.
The SS 3 student of Maroko school told our correspondent that his spectacular goal made him popular in the school saying that he would continue to remember the goal for years to come.
“Of course i scored a world cup goal for my school.I always scored in the tournament but this particular goal in the final was amazing and shocked my colleagues and principals in attendance.
“This goal makes me more popular in my school and i will continue to remember it in years to come.I am happy that we defeated our opponents at the end of the day.I won’t stop playing football in school and i will continue playing after leaving school,”he said.
Speaking about the Adeshola, Coach of Varsity Academy, Segun Peters said he was not surprised about his performance saying that Adeshola has potential to brcome a future national player.
“He joined my club not up to two years and he is fantastic player and calm person. I came here to watch his game and i am happy to see his beautiful goal who scored for his school. I wish him best of luck in his footballing career,” he said.
