Lagos FA Pre season Tourney: Teams Battle For Quarterfinal Slots

Sunday Akintoye

The race for quarter final tickets in the ongoing Lagos FA Pre Season Tournament began early on Wednesday as some teams have already qualified for the quarter final stage while some teams’ qualifications still hang in the balance.

First Bank played 1-1 with Broad City this morning at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena formally known as Onikan Stadium.

Both teams have qualified for the next stage of the tournament. Okaka FC have won their two previous matches, and they are going to play TCCG this afternoon to complete their three matches.

Magic Stars won their previous two matches which earned them the qualification. A win against Spartan would give them maximum nine points while a defeat may give their opponents to qualify for the next stage.

Although Tradesafe defeated BYT 2- 0 in their last game with four points, but their qualification is still doubtful as they would wait for the outcome of Emmydinho and AS Racine match later in the day to determine which two teams emerge in the group.

Ikorodu City are leading Buruj 4-0 as at press time. Ikorodu boys won their first game, lost their second match but victory over Buruj may land them in the quarter final stage.

Former Lagos FA Cup champions, Dannaz lost their two matches but beat Smart City this morning, but the Dannaz boys have a slim chance in the group but they need to wait for a match between Okaka FC and TCCG to determine their qualifications.
