The joy of the people from the nooks and crannies of Osun State knows no bound after the news broke Tuesday afternoon that Senator Ademola Adeleke is the rightful elected governor of the state.
Our correspondent who monitored event in Osogbo reports that before the judgment, there has been apprehension as to where the pendulum would swing in the petition filed by the erstwhile Governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who was dissatisfied with the judgement of the Court of Appeal few weeks ago.
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the apex court held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor.
The Supreme Court held that the Election Petitions Tribunal breached Adeleke’s rights to fair hearing and its decision is thus a nullity.
Immediately the people of the state heard the latest news of the judgement, most streets of Osogbo which had remain calmed and tensed before turned to jubilation, as the people’s mood change to that of celebration that their votes were finally counted for Adeleke, who was sworn in last November.
