Former Ogun State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Chief Bukola Olopade, has congratulated the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for emerging victorious in his attempt to return to office as governor, for a second term tenure.
Olopade, the Managing Director of Nigeria’s foremost sports marketing company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, said Monday morning that, Dapo Abiodun’s victory at the polls is a big boost towards a successful hosting of the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival in 2024, as the same government that bidded for the hosting right for the festival will be fully on ground for stage the biggest sports fiesta in Nigeria.
He said: “It would have been a big deal convincing a new government to host a competition as big as the National Sports Festival. We thank God for the continuity.
Nilayo Sports Management Limited were the official marketers of the last edition of the National Sports Festival, Delta 2022.
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared the Abiodun winner of the governorship election held on Saturday after polling 276,298 votes.
Abiodun defeated the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Oladipupo Adebutu, who polled 262,383 votes and 12 other candidates.
Abiodun defeated Adebutu with 13,915 votes.
Other results are Accord Party polled 724 votes; Action Alliance 382; African Action Congress 2613; Action Democratic Congress 94,753; Action Democratic Party 2770; Allied People Movement 2066; Action Peoples Party 207; New Nigeria Peoples Party 1394; National Rescue Movement 779; Peoples Redemption Party 248 and Social Democratic Party 515.
