The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Rev. (Amb) Samuel Ikpea has pondered on Nigeria’s qualification as the global showpiece reached its 500 days to the opening ceremony.
Ikpea who spoke on Monday, January 27th, 2025 from his office which was exactly 500 days to the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup which takes place in Mexico on June 27th, 2026 expressed optimism that Nigeria will be there.
“It’s exactly 500 days to the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup today” Ikpea started. “I am confident, that the Super Eagles will be there”.
“The NFF were able to secure a Coach at the nick of time and Chelle knows that being at the World Cup is important to both him as a manager and to Nigeria as a country”
“The boys have also missed out at the Qatar World Cup, and they will be doing everything possible to qualify for this World Cup”.
“We, at the Nigeria Football Supporters Club are going to put all tactical means aside cheering the team on the field to ensure that they are going to pick one of the tickets available for the World Cup” Ikpea concluded.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first ever world Cup to be hosted in three countries, with the trio of Mexico, USA and Canada co-hosting to welcome an estimated 5 million fans.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria who are currently 5th in group c which has six teams will continue with their qualifiers on March 17, 2025 when they face group leaders Rwanda in an away clash.
