The 2nd edition of DA-F Youth Basketball Festival dunked off on Monday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, south-south Nigeria over 50 youth teams participating in the tournament, which is the brainchild of Athletes For Peace and Re-Orientation and sponsored by the Ahmadu Musa Kida Foundation(AMK).
The tournament which is in five categories was declared open by the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Sports, Comrade Honour Sirawoo, who was ably represented by the Acting Director of the Sports Ministry, Mrs Stella Kingoly. 20 matches were played on an opening day.
The tournament is segmented into Under 10 mixed Boys/Girls; Under 13 Boy/Under 16 Boys and Under 18 Girls/Under 19 Men.
The highlight of the day’s event was the game between Favour Arena and DA-F Academy in the U19 category which ended 28 -27 in favour of DA-F Academy.
