The 2023 NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s basketball league is now expected to begin Tuesday, in Akure, Ondo State, after the seemingly unpreparedness of the Ondo State Sports Council, that made the league management committee of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to move the championship to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Consequent upon a letter from the Ondo State Sports Council, reassuring the NBBF that the basketball facility at the Akure Indoor Sports Hall will be ready for use for the first phase of the Atlantic Conference of the 2023 NBBF/Zenith Women’s basketball league, the NBBF has decided to reverse the decision and return the championship to Akure.

The NBBF, in a letter signify its Secretary-General Peter Njoku, has informed the Atlantic Conference teams including, MFM BC, First Bank BC, Sunshine Angels BC, IGP Queens BC, Delta Queens BC, Bayelsa Queens BC, Dolphins BC and First Deep Waters BC, to proceed to Akure, for the championship.
