2022 International Youth Day: Nigerian Youths As Change Agents – Phillip Shaibu

I am privileged as a youth to address my fellow compatriots on this auspicious occasion of the 2022 lnternational Youth Day.

Permit me to say that as stakeholders in the Nigerian Project, our future is now, we have the collective responsibility to contribute our quota towards the sustainable development of our dear nation in actualizing the dreams of our founding fathers.

By our numerical strength, talents and industry, we are the change agents and potent catalysts for the emergence of a new and egalitarian Nigeria for the good of the majority of our diverse people.

Nigeria, at the moment, is at crossroads due to worsening socio-economic, religious, political and security challenges confronting us as a nation.

It is instructive to note that the 2023 general elections provide an ample opportunity to change the sad narrative and the regrettable trajectory of our native land.

Consequently, I wish to admonish our teeming youths to rise to the challenge by their active participation in the ongoing political process.

Permit me to remind you that as the 2023 general elections are fast approaching, we owe the present generation and indeed, the future generations of Nigeria, the patriotic duty to support and elect credible, God-fearing leaders poised to fix Nigeria and take her to the next level of accelerated development. You all know that we remain the most valuable assets and productive segment of the global population.

Yes, it’s our DAY, but let’s celebrate responsibly. Wish Nigerian youths both at home and in the diaspora memorable celebrations and may the labour of our heroes past never be in vain.

Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu is the Deputy Governor, Edo State, south-south Nigeria
