The much awaited U-15 Jide Oni football competition would kick off today (Saturday) at the Ojoniyun sports center, Ebute-metta,Lagos.
Four matches would be played today {Saturday} as Akarigbo academy face Santos, Brown United tackle puma FC,Magbon take on Malo FC, while Sunshine FC confront Wembe FC.
Action resumes on Sunday while Rocky FC face Golden Stars as Young Stars face Talented FC.
Match coordinator, Taofeek Ajibola said the tourney is 16 format competition and urged the participants to play the game according to the rules and regulations.
He disclosed that the tourney which is being sponsored by chairman of JIDSMA Holdings Limited, Otunba Jide Oni was organised to keep the young players busy during their holiday period.
“This is the competition that has name and we have selected some clubs who would play the competition.On our part, we are ready and we are looking forward to the opening match.I wish all the participating teams all the best in their outings,”he said.
Ajibola however thanked the cup donor, Otunba Jide Oni for his support towards football development in Lagos and urged other sports philanthropists, corporate bodies and individuals to channel their resources to sports development so as to keep the young players out of the streets.
