Chairman of Lagos Divisional Football Association, Bode Babington has confirmed that 15 teams would participate in the 2023/24 Lagos Football Divisional League.
The league would kick off on 24th, April 2024 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
Organisers have divided15 teams into two groups while the best four teams in each group would qualify for the super eight playoff where eventual winners would represent the divison at the state league.
Addressing the participants at the draws ceremony held recently at the Onikan Stadium, Babington commended the participants for their finacial commitment to the league and assured them better organisation and officiating throughout the league season.
“I am happy that the league would soon start despite the delay doe one reason or the other. We ought to have started this league but like I said we need to put necessary things in place before the kickoff.
“This is new administration, and we are promising the participating teams that this year’s league would be better organised and I commend the teams for their patience and confidence they have in us. And we want to ensure that we give all the teams level playground throughout the league.
“We also want to assure you that the winners would be rewarded financially, and we are going to compensate outstanding players who distinguished themselves throughout the league,” he said.
Despite the economic challenges of the country, the divisonal football boss said his administration would do everything to get sponsor for the league and admonished the club owners, coaches and other football stakeholders to continue to have confidence in the leadership of the division.
Meanwhile some coaches and club owners who spoke to our correspondent expressed satisfaction with the commitment of the divison and assured their full cooperation while others pleaded for better officiating.
At the end of the draw ceremony, two groups were created for the 15 teams.
Group a comprises of Team 360, Bright Stars, Cohesion FC, Ayieripnelis, Active FC, Qido FC, Grace Sports Channels and Young Strikers.
In Group B are made up of Amsterdam FC, Honour FC, Royalty FC, Orobo FC, Praise King FC, LOF FC and Olufunke FC.
Two venues would be used for the league namely NPA football ground and Onikan Stadium.
